OVERVIEW

Scantech offers three types of equipment:

1.  Scanners - Provides the necessary data needed to control the manufacturing process and to determine the quality of produced materials.

2.  Control systems - Controls the manufacturing line using the data provided by the scanner to ensure that the material produced is within the customers' defined tolerances of quality.

3.  User interfaces - Gives the user control over the scanners and control systems and provides a comprehensive display of the parameters in real time.

In short, the three types of equipment that Scantech offers can be summarised as Quality and Control Systems (QCS).

Scantech's QCS are manufactured with open architecture and modular concepts.

With open architecture, Scantech's equipments are designed to communicate freely with the customers' computers and systems.

Modularity in Scantech's equipment is based on the following three main characteristics:

1.  The equipment must be independent and self-sufficient. It must completely fulfil the task for which it was designed for.

2. The equipment's modules has the flexibility to be assembled in order to achieve the best configuration to suit the customers' application.

3. The equipment is designed in a modular fashion.

By adopting the concepts of open architecture and modular concepts in the design and manufacture of Scantech's QCS, the following benefits are achieved:

Reliability - Due to the high level of standardisation of Scantech's QCS components

Ease of maintenance - In addition to component standardisation, it is a direct result of segmentation and distribution of tasks

Reduction of spare parts stocks

Scalability - Scantech's approach eases the process of adding new equipment to any existing configuration.

Long term sustainability - A direct consequence of the modularity of Scantech's QCS
